Selkirk S2 Pro pickleballs: what’s new and who should pre-order

Selkirk’s S2 Pro pickleball is on pre-order in packs from 3 to 100. What Selkirk claims, what Pickleball Effect’s lab found, what we do not know yet (we have not hit it), how the pre-order works and who should pick something else.

Selkirk built the S2 Pro for ball snobs, its own words, and the first lab numbers back the pitch. Pickleball Effect measured the most pop and the quickest response of the balls in its test, excellent visibility, and almost no bounce lost from new to used. We have it on pre-order in packs from 3 to 100.

The same reviewer still names the Life Time LT Pro 48 best overall, we have not hit an S2 Pro yet, and durability and tournament use are still open. This guide lays out what is known, what is not, and who should pre-order.

If you are weighing it against the Life Time LT Pro 48 or the Franklin X-40, the numbers side by side are in our Selkirk S2 Pro vs LT Pro 48 vs Franklin X-40 comparison. This page is about the S2 Pro itself.

What is the Selkirk S2 Pro pickleball?

The S2 Pro is Selkirk Sport’s new pickleball. Selkirk is the paddle maker behind the Omni and the Boomstik, which we cover in our Selkirk guide. Below is what Selkirk says about the ball. These are Selkirk’s claims, not our findings.

  • 38 holes. Selkirk describes a patented layout with geodesic positioning. The Dink reported on 20 October 2026 that the holes come in three sizes.
  • True-Round injection moulding. Selkirk says this is how the ball is made to stay round.
  • A harder, faster feel. Selkirk calls it the “hard ball” feel. Pickleball Effect agrees it plays quicker (more on that below).
  • A textured finish from the first hit. Selkirk says there is no break-in.

What does independent testing say about the S2 Pro so far?

The only lab numbers we have found as at 4 November 2026 are Pickleball Effect’s. Braydon Unsicker published them on 28 October 2026 in a three-ball test, with a separate S2 Pro vs Life Time LT Pro 48 write-up. For the S2 Pro, Pickleball Effect reports:

  • Pop: 40.00 mph new, 39.60 mph used.
  • Power: 59.70 mph used.
  • Bounce: 22.38 in new and 22.32 in used, so it lost only 0.06 in.
  • Spin: 2,104 rpm used.
  • Bounce consistency: 10 out of 10.
  • Visibility: excellent.
  • Response: the quickest of the balls in the test, especially in pop. Pickleball Effect says it feels quickest during hands exchanges at the kitchen.

Pickleball Effect’s verdict: the S2 Pro is best for visibility and a quicker game, and it says the S2 Pro suits hotter weather, when conditions are slower. It names the Life Time LT Pro 48 best overall. Long-term durability testing on the S2 Pro is still going, so how many sessions one lasts is an open question.

One reviewer is one reviewer. We would like a second set of numbers before we call it, and we will add them here when they exist.

What we do not know about the S2 Pro yet

We have not hit it

Nobody at Pickld has played an S2 Pro yet. Everything above is either Selkirk’s description or Pickleball Effect’s testing. Once our first packs land and we have hit them, we will add what we find to this page, and say so plainly if it does not match.

Warranty: six months, no-crack, on the stock we sell

The S2 Pro we sell is Selkirk’s Asia stock, and it carries a six-month no-crack warranty (see Selkirk’s Asia product page). Selkirk advertises a one-year warranty covering cracks and balls that go out of round for its US stock. If a ball cracks inside six months, email support@pickld.com.au and we will take it up with Selkirk for you.

Tournament use: check your event’s rules

The S2 Pro is not on USA Pickleball’s approved ball list as at 4 November 2026. We read all 399 entries and there is no S2 Pro among them. The Dink reports that the S2 Pro is the official ball of APP Asia. That is a statement about APP Asia, and whether any Australian event uses it is for that event to say. If you play sanctioned or club tournaments, check which ball your event names before you buy.

Selkirk pickleballs in Australia: S2 Pro packs and prices

Each pack size is its own product. We make the packs up in Sydney from Selkirk’s 100-ball bag, and we do not sell Selkirk’s retail box. Prices are in Australian dollars including GST, as at 4 November 2026.

Pack Price Per ball
Selkirk S2 Pro 3 pack $19.50 $6.50
Selkirk S2 Pro 6 pack $36.00 $6.00
Selkirk S2 Pro 10 pack $55.00 $5.50
Selkirk S2 Pro 12 pack $63.00 $5.25
Selkirk S2 Pro 24 pack $120.00 $5.00
Selkirk S2 Pro 50 pack $237.50 $4.75
Selkirk S2 Pro 100 pack $450.00 $4.50
Selkirk S2 Pro pickleballs counted out as a 3 pack, 6 pack and 12 pack on a wooden bench
Made up in Sydney from Selkirk’s 100-ball bag, not sold in Selkirk’s retail box.

For a sense of where that sits, the Life Time LT Pro 48 is $18.00 for a 3 pack and the Franklin X-40 is $12.95 for a 3 pack. The per-ball maths across all three, at several pack sizes, is in the comparison.

If you want to try one, start with a 3 or 6 pack. The per-ball price falls as the pack grows, from $6.50 in a 3 pack to $4.50 in a 100 pack, which is where a club would look.

Who should pre-order the S2 Pro, and who should pick something else

Pre-order the S2 Pro if

  • You lose track of the ball. Pickleball Effect rates the S2 Pro’s visibility excellent and the Life Time LT Pro 48’s okay.
  • You like a quicker game. Pickleball Effect names the S2 Pro best for it.
  • You play in hot weather. Pickleball Effect says the S2 Pro suits hotter weather, when conditions are slower.
  • You are happy to buy on the lab numbers, knowing we have not hit it yet and durability testing is still going.

Pick something else if

  • You want a ball with a proven record for lasting. Pickleball Effect says the Life Time LT Pro 48 has proven long-lasting durability, and durability is what stood out when Ben and Chris played it in the US. The S2 Pro does not have that record yet.
  • You want a lower price per ball. The Franklin X-40 costs less per ball at every pack size we sell, and it is the everyday ball many Australian players already know. Our Franklin balls guide covers the range.
  • You play sanctioned events. The X-40 is on USA Pickleball’s approved ball list. The S2 Pro is not, as at 4 November 2026.
  • You play on a gym floor. You want an indoor ball, not an outdoor one. Start with our indoor vs outdoor pickleballs guide and our indoor balls guide.

Does Pickld sell Selkirk’s retail boxes?

When do the S2 Pro balls arrive?

The verdict

On paper the S2 Pro is a serious ball. Its visibility, its quicker pace and how little bounce it lost between new and used are all strong on Pickleball Effect’s numbers. It is also unproven where it matters most for your wallet, because durability testing is still going and we have not hit one. Pre-order it if visibility and a quicker game matter most to you and you are comfortable with those unknowns. Stay with the Life Time LT Pro 48 if durability matters most, or with the Franklin X-40 if price per ball does.
