About Pickld

Pickld is run by two Sydney players: Ben Mulherin and Chris Lam. We hit most mornings, we play the tournaments, and we run the store ourselves. No call centre, no faceless warehouse: email us and one of us answers.

Why we started Pickld

A couple of years ago, buying a serious paddle in Australia meant one of two things: order from the US and wait three weeks, or take a punt on a local listing written by someone who'd never hit with it. We were doing the first one constantly: importing paddles, tapping them, playing them, working out what actually held up on our courts.

Pickld grew out of that. It came out of the Sydney pickleball community around SUNS, from real time at the kitchen line rather than a spreadsheet of margins. The idea was simple: stock the gear we'd actually swing, ship it from Sydney so nobody waits three weeks, and describe how each paddle plays (pop, spin, feel off the face) instead of parroting the manufacturer's marketing.

If we wouldn't swing it, we don't sell it.

We actually play

This matters more than it sounds. We're not resellers who picked pickleball because it's trending. We're club players who got fed up with the buying experience and did something about it. You'll find us on court most weeks, and at Pickleball NSW tournaments when they're on.

How we choose what to stock

Every paddle gets played on Sydney courts before it earns a slot in the catalogue. We're looking for the same things you are: a sweet spot that forgives an off-centre hit, enough bite to shape a third-shot drop, and a swing weight that doesn't wear your arm out by game four.

  • We don't carry everything. Most local stores try to be Amazon. We stock the paddles we'd put in our own bags: across starter, intermediate and professional tiers.
  • We'll tell you what we'd skip. If a paddle doesn't hold up, it doesn't get listed, and where it's close, our reviews say why.
  • Specs in plain English. Core thickness, shape, weight and grip: the numbers a real buyer wants, explained so they actually mean something.

What we carry

We're the authorised Australian reseller for the brands worth playing (RPM, JOOLA, Six Zero, Honolulu, Friday and Enhance) alongside Selkirk, Franklin, Gamma and more. Beyond paddles, we stock balls, bags, ball machines, nets and court gear, plus training aids under our own Pickleball Labs range and custom kit for clubs. Not sure where to start? The paddle finder matches you to three you'd actually use in about a minute.
