What the oval tube frame changes
Almost every portable net on the market runs round tubing, and round tubing rotates. You set the net up square, play for twenty minutes, and the centre section has quietly twisted so the tape is no longer facing you. It is the most common complaint about portable nets and most brands treat it as unavoidable.
OnCourt OffCourt patented their way out of it. The frame is oval, which means the sections can only seat one way: it starts straight and stays straight, and they guarantee it will not twist. That is the whole argument for this net, and it is the reason it is the one USA Pickleball puts its name on.
The parts that make it fast to set up
Three things do the work. The centre poles sit on a moulded centre support rather than being held in place by tension alone, so the middle of the net finds its own position instead of needing adjustment. A patented rectangular centre strap holds a consistent height rather than sagging as the session goes on. And a proprietary elastic bottom band takes the stress off the net itself, which is usually the first thing to fail on a portable system.
Adjustment straps on the net edges set the tension. It packs into a zippered nylon bag with organising compartments and two outside pockets, each of which swallows about six pickleballs.
Regulation, and where you can use it
The PickleNet measures 22ft long by 34in at the centre, which is official pickleball specification. It is built from powder-coated steel and comes with a one-year warranty.
It is designed for indoor or outdoor use, but it is rust resistant rather than rust proof, and OnCourt OffCourt are direct about that: store the whole system indoors after each session, net, poles and bases, and do not leave it out. The carry bag is there for storage as much as transport. A system left outside is not covered.
Who this suits
Clubs and community groups who put nets up and take them down every week, and anyone setting up a court on a driveway, a school hall or a council court that is not already lined for pickleball. If you play somewhere the nets are already up, you do not need one.
