Bestia Pickleball Glasses

Safety glasses built by pickleball players, after a teammate's torn retina

Bestia pickleball glasses are the first eyewear we have put on the shelf, and we waited until a pair earned it. Bestia was started in Singapore by Ming, a former eyewear founder who moved from tennis to pickleball and watched five of his own club teammates take a ball in the eye, one of them badly enough to need retina surgery. The Drive is what he and his co-founder Zenos built in response: shatterproof ANSI Z87.1 certified lenses in a 26.5 gram frame that does not fog and does not slip.

Why we picked them over the rest: the lens vents in the top corners actually keep the lenses clear in a sweaty indoor session, every pair ships with a clear lens for indoor or night play and a tinted high-contrast lens for outdoors, the temple tips bend to fit your ears, and the frame comes in both Standard Fit and Asian Fit so it sits on your nose rather than your cheekbones. Five frame colours, from Matte Black to Rose Crystal.

Start with the Bestia Drive. If you are not sure which fit to choose, the product page explains the difference, and you can always hit reply on your order email and ask us. Every pair ships from Sydney with free Australian shipping over $150 and 30-day returns on unused gear. For the rest of your kit, see pickleball equipment, or browse every brand we carry on the brands page.

Bestia was started in Singapore by Ming, who had already built one eyewear brand before he moved from tennis to pickleball and watched five of his own club teammates take a ball in the eye, one badly enough to need retina surgery. He and his co-founder Zenos spent two years on the Drive: shatterproof ANSI Z87.1 certified lenses in a 26.5 gram plant-based frame, vents that keep the fog off, temple tips you bend to fit, and two lenses in every box so one pair covers indoor and outdoor play. They also make every colour in a Standard Fit and an Asian Fit, which almost nobody else in sports eyewear bothers to do. Eye protection is the cheapest insurance in this game, and the Drive is the first pair we were happy to put our name beside.
