What HexGrit changes

Most raw carbon faces arrive with plenty of bite and then quietly lose it. You notice around three months in, when the roll volley that used to dip starts sailing long. HexGrit is 11SIX24's answer to that, and the numbers behind it are the reason we picked the brand up. 11SIX24 publish independent testing showing the Power 2 holding 98% of its grit and losing 8.9% of its spin after extended play, against 17.9% for the paddles it was tested beside, while spinning at 2,335 RPM. The Gen 4 floating core

Under the face sits a polypropylene core wrapped in closed cell EVA foam, which 11SIX24 call a Gen 4 floating core. The practical effect is range. Load up on a drive or a third and you get real pop. Take the pace off for a dink or a reset and it settles rather than firing the ball long. Most power paddles give you one gear; this one gives you a few. All three shapes are 16mm.

The three shapes

Pegasus Power 2 is the widebody, 15.8 by 8.12 inches, swing weight 107. It has the most pop of the three and the biggest sweet spot. If you play doubles and want forgiveness with power behind it, start here.

Vapor Power 2 is the hybrid, 16.25 by 7.75 inches, swing weight 113. It sits between the other two and is the safest first pick if you are not sure which shape you are.

Hurache-X Power 2 is elongated, 16.5 by 7.5 inches, swing weight 117. You get reach and leverage on drives and put-aways, and the ball feels heavier off the face. It asks for cleaner contact than the other two.

Who these suit

Intermediate through to advanced players who win points with pace and spin. If this is your first paddle, start in starter paddles instead: a stiff, powerful face amplifies a technique problem just as readily as it amplifies a good swing. If you already know pace is your game, compare against power paddles and spin paddles.
