That is how most serious players set a handle up: a base that absorbs shock and holds its shape, and a thin tacky layer over it that gets replaced when it wears out.

Why the two together

The Hexacore anchors the handle and does the cushioning. The FlexTac sits on top and does the holding, and it is the layer you consume: most club players get four to six sessions out of an overgrip before the tack fades. Replace the overgrip, keep the base.
