The Sydney pickleball scene

Sydney has the largest pickleball scene in Australia and it's still growing quickly. What started as a handful of tennis converts trying something new during 2023 has turned into hundreds of players across the North Shore, Northern Beaches, Eastern Suburbs, Inner West, and Sutherland Shire.

The venue map is a mix of dedicated indoor centres, hired community halls, and repainted outdoor tennis courts. On the North Shore, SUNS Pickleball (Hornsby-Kuringai area) is a dedicated indoor court and one of our local hubs — we're proud dealers for their venue. Sydney Olympic Park runs sessions at Quaycentre and the adjoining courts. Community centres across Manly, Willoughby, Ku-ring-gai, Waverley and Sutherland run drop-in nights that fill up within minutes of opening bookings.

The player mix skews 45-65 — a lot of tennis, squash and badminton converts who brought good hands and quick reactions with them. Alongside that, a fast-growing 25-40 cohort is coming in through friends and social play. Both groups need different things from a paddle, and both groups walk into Pickld with different questions. Local pickup and returns

Local pickup at our Mt Colah warehouse is available by appointment. Place the order online, reply to your confirmation email or call us on 02 8281 6657, and we'll book a time — often same day. There's no pickup fee.

Returns from Sydney customers are the easiest we handle. You get 30 days from delivery to change your mind on any unused paddle. Drop it back at the warehouse in person — no return freight, no printing a label. If the paddle's been played, warranty terms apply per our refund policy.
