RPM Q2 Elongated Pickleball Paddle (16mm & 14mm)

5.0 (3 reviews)
Ben + Chris's take

We've put 20 hours on the Q2 between us. It's RPM's first full-foam paddle: feels plush at the kitchen, holds spin into the third shot, the elongated frame adds genuine reach. The 16mm wants a slightly heavier swing weight than the J2k; expect a small adjustment week if you're coming from a 14mm. (Ben)

The Q2 16mm Elongated is RPM's first full-foam paddle: a long frame and thick core for players who want elongated reach with the plush, connected feel of precision-moulded EPP foam. Suits attacking all-court players who want a spin-heavy, predictable response.

The Q2 is RPM's most ambitious paddle yet: the first in their lineup to ditch honeycomb in favour of a fully moulded EPP foam core, co-designed with paddle engineer John Kew. The 16mm Elongated version pairs that foam construction with a long 16.5 in frame: you get the reach and leverage of an elongated shape, a flatter response across the face, and TPU perimeter inserts that tighten up torsional twist on wide contact. It plays heavier and more connected than the spec sheet suggests.

Highlights

  • Full-mould EPP foam core: 3 mm groove channels tuned for uniform flex and a firm, predictable feel
  • TPU perimeter inserts: denser and more elastic than standard EVA, reducing twist and widening the sweet spot
  • Elongated 16.5 in frame: extra reach for high volleys, drives down the line and singles coverage
  • CarbonBite surface: RPM's high-grit fibre finish for heavy topspin and biting slices

How it plays

The John Kew collaboration matters here. Kew built his reputation as one of the most trusted paddle reviewers in the game before RPM brought him in to engineer the Q Series, and the Q2 reads like a reviewer's wish list: instead of one uniform foam, the density, firmness and rebound are tuned in targeted zones of the paddle. RPM's words for the result are controlled aggression and accessible power, with the torsional stability and off-centre forgiveness that high-level players ask for. Their claims, not our bench test, but the design logic is sound and the twist behaviour is exactly what the TPU perimeter is there to fix.

In our own range the Q2 has been the steadiest seller in the RPM line, and we called it the balanced all-court option in our RPM Jade first look for a reason: it does everything competently rather than one thing loudly. The 16mm build (swing weight 114) is the version most players should take for its extra dwell on resets and drops. The 14mm swings lighter and releases the ball quicker for players who already own a reliable soft game and want more free pace. If you want a more specialised tool, the Friction Pro V2 chases spin harder and the Jade is the new power flagship. USAP registered at PBCoR .43.
